Inspired by the hierarchy and origin concept of the Italian Mafia, my thesis depicts a fictional all female runned mafia. From the soldiers, consigliere, underboss to the Godmother herself, I wanted to create a world where this group was portrayed in a very elegant, rich, and empowering way. The title Godmother is a play on words to the famous mafia film “The Godfather”. Rather than glorifying the heavy aspects of mafia culture today, my fictional mafia focuses more on the origin concept of a mafia, which is the protection of family from the injustices of the world. With that in mind, my thesis strictly depicts an organization for women where they feel protected, accepted, and powerful.
